Death of a Carpet Dealer by Karin Wahlberg

Carpet Dealer Olsson from Oskarshamn, Sweden is murdered (hardly surprising considering the title) on a ferry in Turkey. Carpets play a central role and the novel starts with a fitting quote from Tam Sventon.

The Swedish Police travels to Istanbul and the murder is investigated in both Sweden and Turkey. It turns out that Carl-Ivar Olsson had several family and business secrets.

You can definitely tell that the author has done extensive research about both carpets and Istanbul.

Several storylines are told in parallel, but several of them seem to be forgotten in the end, which bothers me. I assume that some questions will be answered in Karin Wahlberg’s next novel, since the book is part of a series.

Original title in Swedish: Matthandlare Olssons död
