The Last Oracle by James Rollins

The Last Oracle is the fifth thriller in the Sigma Force series by James Rollins. All his novels are filled with non-stop action and exotic places. The Last Oracle is no exception. From Washington DC to ancient Greek temples and from ruins in India to the toxic site of Chernobyl the Sigma Force battles a high-level Russian politician and a group of rogue scientists that plan to use the radioactive fallout from Chernobyl to bring about a new world order.

The Last Oracle builds on the belief that the Oracle of Delphi was a series of autistic savants with the ability to fortune tell. The Russian group has captured Gypsy children with this bloodline and has discovered a way to bioengineer the children in hopes of creating a new world prophet that they can control.

While the Sigma Force group leader Gray Pierce leads his group around the world trying to discover what is going on, his colleague escapes from the Russian research facility along with three of the children. In my opinion this storyline takes up too much room and how many times can you really escape from genetically enhanced wolves, bears and tigers?

Even though I think that most of the books by James Rollins are over the top and I often skim some portions I keep coming back for more. Therefore do not be surprised if you see a review of his upcoming book here in the future.
