The Surgeon by Tess Gerritsen

The Surgeon

A serial killer is spreading fear in Boston; he is torturing and killing women with a scalpel in a very methodical way, which leads the media to dub him “the surgeon.” Detectives Moore and Rizzoli soon discover another case in Savannah, where the killer murdered his victims in the exact same way two years ago. In this case the killer was shot and killed by his last victim Dr. Cordell. As the Boston murders continue it becomes obvious that this killer is also out to get Dr. Cordell. The detectives wonder how two cases can be so similar when no details of the original killings were revealed.

A few chapters into the book I seriously regretted that I started reading it in just before bedtime. The book was almost impossible to put down, and when I finally did I was so scared when I took my dog out and on top of that it gave me nightmares. Few books have kept me looking over my shoulder like this one and needless to say, the suspense was almost unbearable, but in a good scary way. Just be sure to lock your door…
