This novel is about the Chicago Police Department, and it deals with the corruption of the Chicago government and police force. Frank Campello’s partner has recently been killed in the line of duty, and he neither likes nor trusts his new partner Andy Polanski. They get assigned to a murder case and it turns out they do not know who they can trust, so they reluctantly have to trust each other.
If you like police procedurals this is book for you. I am not a big fan of police procedurals in book form (I love them on TV!), but I still found it to be an enjoyable read. It took me a while to get into the book, but once I had all the characters sorted out I was eager to find out who the “dirty” cops were.
What’s in a Name?
I do not get the title at all. St. Jude is the patron saint of policemen and on the back cover it says “Frank Campello and Andy Polanski are The Sons of Jude,” but even after having read the book I still do not understand why the author chose that title.
