“Någon sorts frid” by Camilla Grebe & Åsa Träff

nagon-sorts-frid

The main character Siri works as a psychologist. She has become a widow after her husband died in a diving accident, but she still lives in the couple’s solitary house in the archipelago. She starts to question her choice of profession when one of her patients is found dead in the water outside her house. She has always been afraid of the dark and she constantly thinks there is danger lurking outside her house. Is someone really following her, and if so, who and why?

Psychological Suspense Novel

The cover describes the novel as a psychological suspense novel and it is correct since we hardly get to follow the police work at all. Instead we find out most things through Siri’s experiences and the therapy sessions with her patients. Some gaps are filled in by the “italic killer,” which I wish they had excluded. We do not need that information and I am getting tired of “italic killers,” but that is a matter of taste.

Evil People?

I like that the authors include therapy sessions where we get to know the characters on a deeper level and it makes you wonder what makes people do certain things. Are there evil people or just evil actions?

Sister Authors

This is the first novel by Swedish sisters Camilla Grebe and Åsa Träff. Just knowing that two people wrote the novel makes me wonder if I will notice or not, but after a while I did not even think about it. The sequel about Siri and her colleagues have already been published and although I am a little curious I will probably wait to read it until it is available in paperback.
