Liza Marklund at Krimifestival München

There is undeniably a lot of interest for Swedish author Liza Marklund in Germany. The organizers even had to move the event to a larger venue!

Funnier than in Sweden

Something that surprised me was that we got to see a much funnier Marklund than the one we are used to seeing in Sweden, at least in my opinion.

The first question to Liza was regarding the “funny” name of the Swedish edition of her latest novel (Du gamla du fria). When Liza explained that it is the name of the Swedish national anthem they naturally wanted to hear it, and their wishes were granted! Liza sang part of it to the audience’s delight.

When it was time to read aloud, Liza read a few pages from the Swedish edition, which was fun, and then the German presenter took over (but in German of course).

Sold Out

It was a very nice event. We estimated that there were about 250 people in the audience (it was sold out) and everyone seemed pleased.

Book Signing

After the lecture you could get your book signed and exchange a few words with the author. We did not stay for that. It was already after 8.30pm and our stomachs were growling too much :)

The lecture was held in an auditorium at Klinikum rechts der Isar (a hospital) which definitely contributed to an interesting atmosphere :)

Liza reads aloud in Swedish.

The lecture started at 7pm, and the doors opened at 6pm. We arrived at 6.30pm and the auditorium was already half full.
