Dark Currents by Arnaldur Indriðason

Dark Currents(*) is written by the Icelandic author Arnaldur Indriðason. This time Elínborg is the leader of the investigation. A few pages into the novel the murder has been committed, the body has been found and the search for the killer has started.

A man is found murdered in Reykjavik, Iceland. The police find a rape drug in the man’s pocket and suspect that he used it to drug and rape women. They also suspect that one of his victims may have killed him.

Cooking and Scents

One of Elínborg’s hobbies is cooking and several pages are dedicated to food descriptions, but I do not mind. Her sense of smell also helps her come closer to solving the murder several times.

The Ending

I love whodunit novels and I do not like when you do not get all the answers at the end. The murder in this novel is solved but a few other things remain unclear. Maybe the next novel will have answers, but I still prefer an ending where everything is explained.

(*) I do not know what the English title is/will be. Title in Swedish: Mörka strömmar. Original title in Icelandic: Myrká
